Hmmm I know you are not wanting to hear this story.... but I have been quite successful :)
Im down from a size 30 to a size 6-8 down 165 lbs (160 that I claim on my ticker)  I am actually one half the girl I was yr and  2/3 ago. :)  Every surgery is what you make of it :)  Successes and set backs are what you make of them, not each choice works for each person. Wishing you great success in whatever your choice. :)

Swoosh :)

That is an absolute load.

I had a band, I was the poster bandster girl.  I got to goal, below goal even.  The band about killed me, it's ruined my esophagus and I will live with that for the rest of my life.  I had malnutrition, lived on liquids for 4 months, and life was sheer hell with that damn thing.

I hope you never experience what I did but make no mistake, if you do, and you will, I'm going to remind you that the band is magic and you should have done better with dealing with the side effects.

You have always been so bitter to everyone... I really feel bad for you....  Hope your life improves. :)  I am thankful for what I have done...even if it all backfires tomorrow... right now...TODAY... I am happy and refuse to listen to negative. :)  Have a blessed day,
Swoosh :)
I am a work in progress...perhaps never completed or perfected; but forever working to change for the better...

I don't think you realize what you just wrote.  I actually used your own words on you and *I* am bitter?  That sounds an awful lot like you are jealous.  I have a hunch you aren't as happy with that band as you pretend.

Honey, i'm not the one with a band anymore.  I have my life back, my life improved the day that piece of **** got the heck out of my body.

You have a spiffy day as well!

Make no mistake, you most certainly are a person that tends to blame the victim.  Not something most around here will respect.

BTW, I for one am already successful in my goals. ;o)

Acutually I loved your story.  I had the band done the 29th of last  month.  I believe anythink is possible.  So I believe I'm going to lose and maintain weight loss.  Thanks for sharing a positive note.

I agree that no one surgery works for everyone. I am a year out and have lost 81 lbs and feel great. I personlly know more people who have had RNY and have had really bad outcomes than I do people with bands who have had bad outcomes. I am not here to talk anyone into any surgery, I am just saying that ALL surgery whether it is for weight loss or not has potential for failure. What everyone has to do is know the risks and make the decision that is best for them. Good Luck to everyone no matter the surgery they choose.

SURE there are LapBand success stories...just like there are happy endings of stories about people who jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge and DIDN'T die...but there aren't many of either.

The manufacturer's own booklet says that fuLLY 78% of patients do not lose even half their excess weight.

And, a simple check of the Revision board will show you how many failed bands are being removed or have been removed.

If all you need is a little restriction, look at the sleeve.  Otherwise, the surgery with the most success and fewest re-do's is the DS.

In any group of a hundred people, there are probably 2 or 3 sociopaths.  In a group of a thousand, more like 20-30.  They function very well in "affinity groups," where people have things in common and tend to trust strangers.  I am NOT saying not to trust anyone.  I AM saying that there are probably two dozen sociopaths hanging out here and looking for victims.  Most are NOT serial killers.

Wow! I can't believe all the angry or mean post. I feel I've been very successful. I've had the band for almost three years and it has changed my life. I'm training to run a marathon and I'm in the best shape of my life. I went from a 16/18 to a size 4. There are lots of us out there living healthy with the band and have never had any issues. I'm living proof. Best wishes to anyone who travels down the wls road. We are all fighting this good fight no matter what our surgery choice is or was.
I ran the half marathon last year. I'm the one on the right (Jennifer on race bib). I was given my life back thanks to the band!
